Three ideologies of the 20th century

Throughout the 20th century the world battled out three main stories: fascism, communism and liberalism. The second world war put an end to fascism, while communism and liberalism battled on until the late 1980s—then only liberalism remained. Since the 2008 financial crisis, however, disillusionment in the liberal story has been growing.
